Club Car Electric Golf Cart Parts: Maintenance & Fitment Guide

Most electric Club Car faults on the DS and Precedent come down to a handful of parts: the accelerator box, the solenoid, the switches in the pedal circuit, the speed sensor and the charger connection. This short guide lists what each part does, the symptom it causes, and the reference numbers we list on the matching product pages.

Club Car Electric Golf Cart Parts: The Complete New-Energy Maintenance Guide

1. Accelerator box (MCOR / potentiometer)

The accelerator box turns pedal position into a signal for the controller. When it wears out the pedal feels jerky, speed becomes unpredictable, or the cart stops responding. On DS carts the older box is often replaced with the MCOR4 conversion kit; on Precedent the MCOR and potentiometer are listed separately. Reference numbers: AM293101 (conversion kit), 102101101 (DS potentiometer), 102528501 (Precedent).

2. Solenoid and contactor

The solenoid is the heavy switch that connects the pack to the controller when you press the pedal. The classic symptom is a click with no movement: the coil works, but the contacts inside are burnt. Test across the two large terminals with a meter while a helper presses the pedal before buying a controller. Reference numbers: 101908701 (48V DS/Precedent), 102865901 (contactor with resistor), 1013609 (12V).

3. Switches in the pedal circuit

If the solenoid does not click at all, work through the circuit: key switch, forward/reverse switch, run/tow switch and the small coil wires. Reference numbers: 101826201 (key switch), 101753003 and 101753005 (F/R switches), 101908101 (run/tow).

4. Speed sensor and motor brushes

Erratic speed with a healthy pack usually points to the motor speed sensor; a motor that loses power gradually often needs brushes. Reference numbers: 102704901 and 102265601 (speed sensors), 1017946 and 102938601 (brush sets).

5. Charger plug and cordset

If the charger will not start, check the plug and the receptacle before the charger itself: corroded contacts and cracked housings stop the cart from seeing the charger. Reference numbers: 105070101, 101828901, 101643301.

Diagnostic order for a cart that will not move

  1. Check pack voltage under load; a pack that collapses points to batteries or cables.
  2. Press the pedal and listen for the solenoid click.
  3. No click: test key switch, F/R switch, run/tow switch and coil wires.
  4. Click but no movement: meter the large solenoid terminals, then check the speed sensor and controller inputs.
  5. Jerky pedal response: check the accelerator box before replacing the controller.

Frequently asked questions

Can a solenoid click and still be bad?

Yes. The click only proves the coil is energised; the heavy contacts can be burnt. The meter test across the large terminals shows whether power is passing.

Should I replace the solenoid or the controller first?

The solenoid. It is cheaper, fails more often, and the controller should only be replaced after the solenoid and throttle signal have been checked.

Do 36V and 48V parts interchange?

No. Match the pack voltage first, then the reference number on the old part; solenoids, chargers and plugs differ between voltages.

Helpful checklist! Before ordering parts, have your cart’s model, year, and serial number ready so the supplier can confirm compatibility. For a lithium conversion, ask for a complete list of required components upfront, including the charger and battery gauge, to help avoid surprise costs and extra orders.
