EZGO Electric Golf Cart Parts: TXT & RXV Maintenance Guide

Most EZGO electric faults on TXT and RXV carts fall into three areas: the drive circuit, the charging connection and the front end. This short guide covers what fails in each area, how to check it in the right order, and the reference numbers we list on the matching product pages.

EZGO Electric Golf Cart Parts: TXT & RXV New-Energy Maintenance Guide

Know which TXT or RXV you have

TXT carts came with three drive systems: series, PDS and the earlier DCS. The controller, solenoid and wiring differ between them; body, brakes and front-end parts are largely common. RXV carts use a different AC drive system again. Check the controller label under the seat before ordering electrical parts, or match the reference number on the part you are replacing.

Cart will not move: check the solenoid first

  1. Press the pedal and listen: a click means the coil is energised, not that the contacts are passing current.
  2. Meter across the two large solenoid terminals with the pedal pressed. No voltage drop across the contacts means the solenoid is open.
  3. No click at all: test the key switch, the forward/reverse switch, the run/tow switch and the coil wires.
  4. Only after the solenoid and throttle signal check out should you suspect the controller.

Reference numbers: 612711 (48V TXT solenoid), 27153-G01 (14V relay), 609428 (RXV contactor).

Charging: match 36V or 48V

When a charger will not start, the fault is often at the plug or receptacle rather than inside the charger: corroded copper contacts and cracked housings stop the cart from seeing the charger. The plug and receptacle shapes differ between 36V and 48V carts and do not interchange.

Front end, steering and brakes

Steering wear shows as play in the wheel, a clunk over bumps or the cart pulling to one side. Brake wear shows as a pedal that travels too far before the cart slows.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my TXT solenoid click but the cart not move?

The click proves the coil works, not that the contacts close. Meter across the large terminals while the pedal is pressed; if power does not pass, replace the solenoid before touching the controller.

Do I need a 36V or 48V charger plug?

Match the battery pack: 36V and 48V TXT carts use different plug and receptacle shapes. Check the pack voltage on the battery label before ordering.

Are series, PDS and DCS electrical parts the same?

No. Controllers, solenoids and wiring differ between the three drive systems; match the reference number on the old part.
